DESCRIPTION MG Hector Plus Sharp Pro 2.0 Turbo Diesel 6 STR Dual Tone

When was the MG Hector Facelift launched?

MG launched the BS6 Phase 2 updated Hector Plus in India in April 2023.

What variants does it get?

The MG Hector Plus is available in Smart, Smart Pro, Sharp Pro, and Savvy Pro variants.

What features are available in the MG Hector Plus?

Exterior:

Similar to the standard Hector facelift, the updated Hector Plus gets a new fascia with a large chrome grille. There are no changes to the headlamp and LED DRL units and even the silhouette remains unchanged. But the Hector Plus still appears as fresh as the back, where the taillights get a revised signature. There’s also a new exterior paint shade called Dune Brown. Meanwhile, the 215/55 R18 wheels with the five-spoke dual-prong design have been retained.

Interior:

The updated cabin of the Hector Plus gets the white and black theme with some chrome elements. Meanwhile the newest inclusion to the dashboard is a 14-inch touchscreen, which is upsized from the 10-inch unit offered before. Like the Astor, the Hector Plus also gets a Level 2 ADAS suite with 11 features as a part of the assistance systems. MG has updated the in-car controllability for the infotainment system by adding more connected car features. Also, the Hinglish voice control suite has been improved upon. One popular feature of the Hector Plus is the Bluetooth key that can be enabled via the MG app.

Coming to the ADAS suite, which is new for the Hector and Hector Plus, it now offers features like adaptive cruise control, bend cruise assistance, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, intelligent headlamp control, and safe distance warning. It also includes, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, intelligent hydraulic braking assistance, traffic jam assist, and automatic emergency braking (pedestrian).

The model has a seating capacity option of six and seven passengers compared to the two-row, five-seater configuration of the standard Hector.

What are the engine, performance, and specifications of the MG Hector Plus ?

Similar to the updated MG Hector, the Hector Plus also makes use of the same powertrain line-up that was offered before. So it gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired either with a six-speed manual, a CVT, or a DCT and produces 141bhp and 250Nm. Meanwhile, the diesel version is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit producing 169bhp and 350Nm and is only available with a six-speed manual. There’s no automatic for the diesel and this means a majority of the ADAS functions are not available for the diesel-powered models. Both these engines are now BS6 Phase-2 compliant.

Is the MG Hector Plus a safe car?

The MG Hector Plus has not been tested for NCAP safety ratings yet. But you get the Level 2 ADAS suite, six airbags in the range-topping versions, and rear parking sensors. You also get ESP, TCS, HHC, ABS, EBD, brake assist, all four disc brakes, speed-sensing auto door lock function, high-speed alert system, and seat-belt reminder system.

What are the rivals to the MG Hector?

The MG Hector Plus competes with the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and Mahindra Scorpio Classic apart from some D-segment sedans.
